Nico Metal Works

Our workshop, Nico Metal Works, is tucked away in the Italian Building over on Sane Guruji Marg. Being here at No 33 in Agripada means we are right in the middle of a very old and busy part of Mumbai. It’s an old building, and you can feel the history in the walls. We do a lot of metal fabrication and repair work right here on the ground floor. It’s loud, there are sparks flying sometimes, and there is always a layer of iron dust on the benches. We don’t have a front office with air conditioning or a receptionist. If you want to talk to us, you just walk into the shop and find one of us near the machines. Most of our work comes from local businesses or people who need something specific built. We’ve been here long enough that we don't need to put up big signs. People in Agripada know where the Italian Building is. It gets hot in the summer, and the monsoon rains sometimes leak a little near the door, but we just keep working. It is a humble setup, but we have the tools we need to get the job done. We don't make things sound more complicated than they are. If a piece of metal needs cutting or welding, we do it. That’s the long and short of it. We just focus on the task at hand and try to get it done right the first time so the customer is happy.
