New Power Battery is tucked away in Hariyana Basti, inside Lokseva Chawl in Jogeshwari West. Our specific spot is Minty Chamber No 3 in the Dhuswadi area. It is not the kind of place you would find by accident unless you live around here. The shop is filled with heavy batteries of all sizes for cars and home inverters. It smells a bit like lead and chemicals in here, which is just part of the job. We spend our days testing cells and charging up units that have gone flat. It is physical work, moving those heavy blocks around and making sure the connections are clean. The neighborhood is very lively and there is always some sort of commotion going on outside in the chawl. We do not have a big team or a polished office. It is just us in a small room with our tools and some tea. Most people come to see us because their vehicle will not start or they are worried about the next power cut. We keep things honest and tell you if a battery can be saved or if it is time to get a new one. It is a basic trade but it keeps us busy from morning until night.
