National Centre For Photovoltaic Research & Education, Iit Bombay

We are located within the IIT Bombay campus in Powai. You can find us in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering. Specifically, we are in Room 311 of the Mechanical Engineering building. It is a busy academic setting with students and researchers always running around. We focus on photovoltaics, which is basically just a word for solar power research. The office is full of books, papers, and computer screens showing data. We are not a typical business selling products. It is more about studying how things work and teaching the next generation. Sometimes the halls are quiet during exams, and other times it is a total buzz of activity. We drink a lot of coffee from the campus canteen and spend hours looking at test results. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you have never been to the campus before, but once you get to the Mechanical Engineering block, it is not too bad. We do not have any sales pitches or brochures. We just do the research and help out with education in the solar field. The view of the campus is nice, but we spend most of our time inside the lab or at our desks. It is a place for learning and trying out new ideas. We keep things pretty simple here and do not worry about looking corporate. It is all about the science for us and making things work better.
