Nataraj Rhythm Of The Cosmos

Our group is based out in Andheri West, right in the New Modikhana area near the Cosmopolitan Education Society. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, but once you’re here, it makes sense. We focus on the "Rhythm of the Cosmos," which is a fancy way of saying we spend our time with dance and movement. The space we use is part of the society's buildings. Andheri is always moving, always loud, so having a place to focus on rhythm is actually pretty nice. The floors are worn down from people practicing their steps, and there’s usually some music playing from a small speaker in the corner. We aren't some high-end fitness studio with mirrors on every single wall and expensive juice bars. It’s a lot more traditional than that. People from the neighborhood come by to learn, and we just enjoy the process of teaching. It’s a local community thing more than anything else. Some days the humidity in Mumbai makes the room feel a bit heavy, but we just open the windows and keep going. We don’t spend much time on the computer or doing marketing. Most of what happens here is just people showing up and moving to the beat. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day in a busy city.
