N R Patel & Co is located at 230/3, right inside Patel Bhavan on Samuel Street. This whole area near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road is always bustling with a lot of activity. It is an older part of the city, and the building has that classic Mumbai feel to it that you do not see much anymore. Our office is a bit tucked away, and you have to walk through the busy street which is usually filled with wooden carts and people carrying heavy loads. Samuel Street is known for being a major hub of trade, so there is really never a dull moment when you are working here. Inside our office, it is mostly just rows of shelves filled with ledgers and stacks of paper. We have been here for many years now, and the place feels like it has a lot of history. The ceilings are high, and the windows look out onto the crowded street below. It is noisy, but we have all gotten used to it over the years. We do not have any of that modern office furniture, just the old wooden desks and heavy chairs that have been in this room forever. We spend our day dealing with various paperwork and talking to the people who drop in. It is a very traditional way of working, without any of the corporate polish you find elsewhere. We usually take our lunch together, and someone often goes out to get food from the vendors nearby.
