Deepak Steel Industries Ltd. has its office on the 6th floor of Dalamal Tower in unit 614. Nariman Point is a well-known business district in Mumbai, and it is a very fast-paced environment to work in. Even though we are in a prominent building, our office is just a regular workspace filled with desks and computers. We deal with the steel industry from the management and sales side. This means there is a massive amount of coordination needed between the steel mills and the customers who are building things. We are not the ones out there in the heat melting the metal; instead, we are the ones making sure the logistics and the contracts are all in order. We spend the majority of our time on phone calls and answering emails. Some days are very loud because the phones never seem to stop ringing. We have been in this office for a long time and most of our staff members have been with us for many years. We all know each other well and we have a routine that works. It is a professional place, but we do not try to act like a big corporate machine. We just focus on the orders and ensuring that the accounts are handled properly. Dealing with steel prices that change almost every day keeps us very busy. It is steady, demanding work in a part of the city that never seems to slow down.
