You can find us at No. 9/A in Sitafalwadi. Mazgaon is a place with a lot of history and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop is where we handle all the bags. It’s a narrow street and can get quite crowded with delivery carts. We have been in this spot for a long time. The walls are lined with different kinds of bags, mostly for daily use. We don’t have a big front window to show things off. People just know we are here. The air in Mazgaon always smells a bit like the sea and old buildings. We spend our days cutting material and checking zippers. It’s honest work. Sometimes the lights flicker when the heavy machinery next door starts up. We just keep going. My hands are usually stained with ink or glue by the end of the shift. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Mumbai. We just want to make sure the bags we sell don't fall apart after a week. Sometimes customers stay to chat about the old days in Sitafalwadi. We’ve seen businesses come and go, but we are still here at 9/A. It’s a small space but it’s ours. We close up when the sun goes down and the street gets quiet. Tomorrow we will do the same thing over again. The neighbor brings us tea every afternoon around four.
