We’re located at Shop No 30 inside the Lala Compound on CST Road. If you know Kurla West, you know how busy it gets around here. The traffic is always something else. Inside the compound, it’s a bit of a maze with all the different shops and small businesses. We’ve got our space filled with steel stock. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together, so we keep the lights on all day. Most of our work is just moving metal in and out. There isn't much room for a desk, so we usually do our bills on a small wooden table near the entrance. The air is always heavy with the smell of old metal and exhaust from the street. We’ve been in Kurla for a while now and have seen many shops come and go. We just keep doing what we do. It’s not a glamorous spot, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. When the monsoon hits, the yard outside gets a bit flooded, but we’ve learned how to deal with it over the years. We spend most of the day talking to drivers and helping load the materials. It’s a grit-and-grind kind of place. People know they can just walk in and we'll see if we have what they need in the stacks.
