Our office is in Flat No 203, E Wing of Chitrakut Society on Shiv Vallbh Road. It is located in Raval Pada, which is in Dahisar East, Mumbai. Because we are in a residential society, the office feels very different from those big glass buildings in the city. We are chartered accountants, so Mm Nissim Co is usually filled with the sound of calculators and pages turning. Being on the second floor means a short walk up, and the E wing is tucked away towards the back. The society is usually quite lively with kids playing or people drying clothes on their balconies. Inside, we have converted the flat into a working area with rows of files and a few computers. It gets pretty warm in Mumbai, so we usually have the AC running if we can, otherwise the fans just move the hot air around. We have a small area for making tea and keeping our lunch boxes. It’s not a fancy corporate headquarters by any stretch of the imagination. It is just a place where we do our audits and file returns for the people and businesses that need it. The commute to Dahisar can be long for some of us, but we have been here long enough that it’s just part of the routine. It is a quiet, steady place to get work done without any extra fluff or office politics.
