Metallurigical Services

Our workplace, Metallurigical Services, is located on D. L. Marg in the Kala Chowki area. This part of the city is full of old industrial buildings and narrow streets. We spend our days testing different types of metals to see if they are strong enough for whatever they are being used for. It involves a lot of machines that pull, crush, or heat up the samples. The lab isn't very big, and it’s always filled with the hum of equipment. We wear heavy boots because there is always a risk of dropping something heavy. Most of the people who work here have been doing this for a long time, so we don’t need to say much to each other. We just know the routine. It’s a bit of a dusty environment, and the smell of grease is always there. We get samples from all over, sometimes just a small bolt and other times a huge piece of a pipe. We have to be very careful with the numbers because people rely on our reports to make sure their buildings or machines are safe. We aren't a corporate office with glass walls. It’s more of a workshop feel where things actually get tested. Kala Chowki is a busy place, but inside our walls, we focus on the tiny details of the metal. We take our tea together in the afternoon and then get back to the machines until it’s time to head home. We just do the testing and give out the results without any fuss or extra words.
