Meera Steel

Meera Steel is located over on T H Kataria Road, right at 1/A in Matunga West. We have been selling stainless steel items here for years. If you walk inside, you’ll see stacks of plates, pots, and tiffins reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. Matunga is known for its shops and food, and we are right in the middle of that daily rush. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. We just open the shutters in the morning and start arranging the inventory. People come here when they are setting up a new kitchen or if they need a sturdy bucket that won't rust. Steel is good because it lasts, and that is basically what we tell everyone. Sometimes a customer wants a specific size of saucepan that we have buried in the back, so we have to go digging for it. It gets dusty, but that’s part of the trade. We know the other shopkeepers on T H Kataria Road well. We watch each other's shops when someone needs to grab tea. It’s a traditional way of doing business, I suppose. No fancy computers for everything, just a notebook and some honest talk. We try to keep prices fair because we know our customers are our neighbors. We’ve seen kids who used to come in with their parents now coming in to buy stuff for their own homes. It makes you realize how long time has passed since we first opened these doors. We just keep on going day by day.
