Mahesh Maheshwari operates from a place called Old Barrack in the Chembur Colony. If you go there, you are looking for T/55, Room No.1. Chembur is a big area, but the Chembur Colony part has its own specific feel. The Old Barracks have been there for a long time. It’s not a new building by any means. Our room is right on the ground level, which makes it easy to get into. We’ve been using this space for our work for quite a while. Inside Room No.1, it’s pretty basic. We have a couple of chairs, a desk, and all our records. It’s a very practical environment. We don't have any air conditioning or fancy lights. We just use what’s there. The people around Chembur Colony are mostly working-class and it’s a very grounded neighborhood. We don't have a big team or any complicated hierarchy. It’s usually just one or two of us here at any given time. We spend the day dealing with whatever comes in through the door or over the phone. We don't really go for any promotional stuff. We just let the work speak for itself. It’s a very simple setup in a part of Mumbai that has a lot of history. We like the fact that it’s not a big corporate park. It feels more real to be in an old barrack room doing our daily business. We just keep it quiet and simple.
