Samir Computer Services

Samir Computer Services is situated in the Shantilal Compound area over in Khar East. We are specifically located in Pragati Chawl which is part of Upadya Wadi. It is a bit of a walk from the station but most people in the neighborhood know the way. We started this service because many families around here were getting computers for the first time and didn't know how to fix them when they crashed. The room we work in is quite small and filled with old monitors and piles of keyboards that we use for spare parts. We spend our days troubleshooting software problems or cleaning out dust from inside the towers. Sometimes people bring in laptops that have had tea spilled on them and we have to tell them it might take a few days to dry out. It isn't a high-end service center with glass doors and uniforms. We usually just wear whatever is comfortable and work until the job is done. The lights in the chawl can be a bit dim so we have extra lamps on the desks. We like helping the students nearby with their projects when their printers stop working right before a deadline. It is a basic setup where we focus on getting the machines running again so people can get back to their own work or studies without spending too much money on new parts.
