Maaz Impex is tucked away in Room No. 39 over in Kurla West. If you know the area near Hari Masjid, you know how crowded it gets during the day. Our room isn't very large, but it serves us well for the import and export business we do. There are usually three or four of us in here at any given time, hunched over computers or talking to vendors. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but nobody really has the time to worry about that. We focus on getting the crates moved and making sure the documentation is mostly in order. The stairs up to the room are a bit narrow, so carrying heavy samples up and down is always a bit of a workout. Outside, the street is always humming with people going to the mosque or just doing their daily shopping. Sometimes the smell of food from the nearby stalls drifts in, which makes it hard to focus on work until lunch. We’ve stayed in Kurla because it’s familiar and everything we need is close by. It’s not a corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we handle our business every day. We usually stay late most evenings, especially when a big shipment is due to arrive. It's just a regular part of life for us here in this corner of the city.
