Lokesh Steel

Our shop, Lokesh Steel, is right at 470 Pathe Bapurao Marg. We are in Shop 1 of the Pusp Sadan building, which is quite close to the Gulalwadi Circle. If you know the area near 2 Karpenter Street, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s a busy part of the city, and there’s always someone shouting or a horn honking outside. We’ve been squeezed into this spot for a long time now. The shop is small and packed from floor to ceiling with steel parts and tools. You have to watch your step when you come in. We don't have a lot of room for a desk, so we usually just stand at the counter. Most of the people who come in are local builders or guys fixing up their own houses. We know where every little piece is hidden, even if it looks like a mess to you. Dealing with the traffic around Gulalwadi Circle is the hardest part of our day. Getting deliveries in and out takes a lot of patience. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open up the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to show up. It’s a noisy, cramped way to work, but it’s our life. We try to be helpful when someone has a question about what kind of pipe or plate they need. It’s just us doing our bit in the neighborhood.
