It is a very central spot in Mumbai, very close to the station, so the noise from the street never really stops. We deal with shipping management, which is a lot of coordination between the people who own the ships and the people who are actually on them. There is a lot to keep track of, like maintenance schedules and crew changes. The office is one of those classic Fort offices with high ceilings and old windows. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside, but we like being in the middle of everything. We have a few desks set up and some old filing cabinets that have been here since we started. Most of our time is spent on the phone or tracking vessels on the screen. It is not a very complicated business in theory, but in practice, there are always things popping up that need to be fixed right away. We do not go in for big meetings or anything like that, we just talk across the desks to get things done. It is a regular job and we try to do it right so the ships keep moving without any unnecessary trouble or delays in the harbor. The air conditioning struggles sometimes in the summer but we manage to get through the day.
