You can hear the clanging of metal from the street when we’re working. Our workshop is in Gala No 13, A Block, over in the Mahalakshmi Layout of Andheri East. It’s a gritty kind of place. There’s steel dust on the floor and heavy beams leaning against the walls. We do a lot of cutting, welding, and putting things together. It’s physical work that leaves you tired at the end of the day. The guys here aren’t much for talking; they mostly just focus on the task at hand. We deal with the heat from the torches and the weight of the materials every single day. Andheri East is a busy hub, so there’s always trucks coming in and out of the layout, trying to navigate the narrow gaps between the galas. It gets pretty cramped when we have a big project going on. We don’t have any polished sales pitch. If someone needs steel work done, they come by, show us the plans, and we get to it. Sometimes we have to redo things because the measurements were off, and that’s just part of the job. We aren aren’t some massive construction firm with suits and ties. We’re the ones in the overalls getting our hands dirty. It’s been like this for a while, and we’re fine with that. It’s just how we make things happen around here in the layout.
