Our office is in Masjid Bunder West, on Narshi Natha Street. We are Lalit Stainless Steel India Pvt Ltd, and you can find us on the 2nd floor, Office No 4 B, in the Dad area. Being in Masjid Bunder means we are right in the middle of the metal trade. The streets are so narrow that trucks can barely pass, and there are always people carrying heavy steel rods or sheets on their shoulders. Our office is up a flight of narrow stairs that squeak when you walk on them. Inside, it’s mostly desks, samples of different steel grades, and a lot of thick catalogs. We spend the day talking to suppliers and customers on the phone, trying to get the right prices for stainless steel coils and plates. It’s a lot of back-and-forth about shipping weights and dimensions. The fans in our office don't do much against the Mumbai humidity, but we are used to it by now. There’s always a glass of tea on someone's desk. We don't have a big fancy lobby with a fountain; it’s just a working office where we keep track of our inventory stored in the warehouses nearby. Sometimes the noise from the street below is so loud we have to shout to be heard. It’s a hectic place to work, but it’s the heart of the business for us. We just keep our heads down and handle the steel orders as they come.
