Working down at Masjid Bunder is something else. Our office for Kohlico Foods & Beverages is at 391 Narsi Natha Street, and if you've ever been here, you know it's one of the busiest spots in Mumbai. The streets are narrow and always full of people pushing carts or carrying heavy bags on their shoulders. You can hear the shouting of the loaders and the honking of the bikes from the moment we open up. Inside our space, it’s a bit more organized, but you can still feel the energy from outside. We deal with a lot of food and drink products, so there is always a faint smell of spices or sugar in the air. The building is quite old, with those high ceilings and thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street. We spend most of the day coordinating where the next truck is going or counting the crates that just arrived. It’s dusty work sometimes. We don't really use computers for every single thing; a lot of it is still written down in ledgers because that’s how we’ve always done it. The chai wallah comes by twice a day, and that’s when we actually take a break. It’s a lot of manual work and keeping track of moving parts. We aren't trying to be anything big or flashy. We are just a local team making sure the goods get to where they need to go in this crowded city.
