We are located at 40/42 Girgaon, right on 1st Carpenter Street. Our shop is inside Gokani Mansion, which is one of those sturdy old buildings you find in this part of town. Girgaon is a place with a lot of history, especially with all the metal shops and small workshops lining the streets. It’s never really quiet around here. You can always hear the sound of metal being moved or the clatter of carts going by. We deal with various kinds of metals, and our space is usually filled with stock from floor to ceiling. It makes the place feel a bit cramped, but we know where every single piece is kept. The street outside is narrow, so getting deliveries in and out can be a real headache sometimes. We’ve spent many years here, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but the core of the metal trade stays the same. Most of our day is spent checking weights and writing out slips for the workers. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air conditioning that works all the time. It’s a bit dusty and the smell of iron is everywhere, but that’s just the nature of the business. We prefer it this way, honestly. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until we pull down the shutters at night. There’s always someone stopping by for a chat or to check on an order.
