Kings And Queens World School is over in the Dwarkesh Building on Subhash Lane, Kandivali West, Mumbai - 400067. It’s right in the middle of a busy part of Kandivali, so there is always something going on outside. This isn’t one of those schools with a massive gate and a private road; we are right there in the neighborhood. We have students coming in from all the apartment blocks nearby every morning. The classrooms are full of desks and posters that the kids worked on themselves. It can be a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to the building layout. We spend a lot of our time making sure everyone stays in their seats and actually finishes their work. During the breaks, you can hear a lot of shouting and talk about cricket. Our staff stays busy with the usual things like taking attendance and making sure the water coolers are topped up. It gets pretty warm during the middle of the day, but we make do with the fans. The building is a bit older, but it’s solid and does the job. Sometimes we have to shift all the furniture around to make room for a meeting or a small performance. Parents often stop by the entrance to have a quick word with us after the bell rings. It’s a very simple, everyday kind of place. We just provide a spot for kids to learn without a lot of fuss.
