Our studio is located in Unit No 101 of the Kuber Complex on G T Road in Andheri West. If you know this area, you know how loud it gets with all the traffic outside. We are on the first floor. It’s a decent sized space but we’ve filled it up with mirrors and some mats for floor work. Modern dance takes up a lot of room so we try not to have too many people in one session. The building itself is old, but we’ve tried to keep our unit clean. Most mornings start with us dragging the speakers out and checking the floor for any splinters. We do a lot of contemporary styles and some jazz too. People come here after work or school to get some movement in. It’s not a very fancy place, just a workspace for dancing. Sometimes the elevator in Kuber Complex acts up, so most of us just take the stairs. The neighborhood has a lot of small shops, so it’s easy to grab a snack after class. We don't really do big performances often, we mostly just focus on the technique and the movements in our daily sessions. It gets pretty sweaty in here during the monsoon months because of the humidity, but the fans help a bit. We spend a lot of time on stretching and basic balance. It’s just how things go here in Andheri. We’ve been at this spot for a few years now.
