We’ve been here at Kamal Mansion in Cuffe Parade for quite a while now. Most days start pretty early because that is when the crowd on A B Road really picks up. It’s just a small tea shop, nothing fancy to look at, but we keep the stove going from morning until late evening. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we have to scramble a bit, but that is just how things go. You’ll find us tucked away in the mansion, usually busy with the tea kettles whistling. We see the same faces every morning, people heading to work or just out for a walk. It gets hot in here, especially in the summer, but we’re used to it. The counter is usually covered in crumbs and tea rings by midday, so we’re always wiping it down between orders. We don't have much seating, so most folks just stand around and talk while they drink. It’s noisy and a bit cramped, but it works for us. My nephew helps out on the weekends when it gets extra busy. We don’t really change much around here, the benches are old and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but the tea is always hot. It's just a regular spot for a quick break. We try to keep things moving so nobody is waiting too long out in the sun. That's about it really, just us and the tea.
