We work out of Kanchwala Compound on Road Number 1 in Kandivali East. It’s a bit tucked away in Singh Estate, but we are always busy inside. The sound of sewing machines is basically the background music for our whole day. We have stacks of fabric everywhere, from cottons to synthetics, waiting to be cut and stitched into something. It gets quite warm on the floor when all the machines are running at once. Most of the staff live nearby in Samta Nagar or around Kandivali, so it’s a local crowd. We do a lot of garment work, from basic stitching to the final finishing and packing. There’s always a pile of threads on the floor by the end of the shift. We aren't a big flashy brand or anything like that. We just take the orders and get the sewing done. Sometimes the deadlines are tight and we end up staying late to finish a batch. The ironers are always at it in the back, and the steam makes it even more humid in the afternoons. We focus on the work right in front of us. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but we’ve got a good rhythm going now. People come in and out for deliveries all day long. We’ve been in this compound for quite a while now and everyone around here knows our spot.
