K K Steel Works

You can find K K Steel Works at 69/B inside the Bombay Talkies Compound in Malad West. We are right next to Standard Engg. It’s an old industrial compound with a lot of history and noise. The walls of our shop are a bit rough and the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but it’s home to us. We work with steel all day long. Cutting, bending, and joining pieces together is what we do here. The floor is usually covered in offcuts and iron filings that we sweep up at the end of the day. It’s a busy place and we usually have a radio playing in the background to keep the energy up. We don't have a fancy showroom for people to browse. If you want to see what we do, you just look at the projects we have lying around the shop floor. Malad is a crowded area, so getting trucks in and out of the compound can be a bit of a trick for the drivers. We’ve got a small crew of workers who have been doing this since they were young. They don't need much instruction anymore. We just get the measurements and start working. It’s not a polished business with a logo on every shirt. We just focus on the steel and making sure it’s what the customer asked for. Being in the Bombay Talkies Compound means we are surrounded by other workshops.
