Junaid Sayed

Junaid Sayed operates out of Anjana Estate on Village Road in Bhandup West. It is one of those places in Mumbai where the noise never really stops. You have the trucks coming in and out because it is an industrial area. The building number is 7/8. If you walk down the road, you see small shops and people rushing to the station. The walls here could use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our time just getting things done. There is a tea shop right outside the gate where we go twice a day. The weather in Mumbai makes the office feel a bit humid, especially during the monsoon months when the road outside gets some puddles. We have been in this spot for a bit now. It is practical for us because the commute is not too bad for the staff. You won't find any fancy signs or big posters here. It is just a workspace where the fans keep spinning all day long. Sometimes the electricity flickers when the heavy machines next door start up. That is just how life goes in Bhandup. We keep our files stacked on the metal shelves and the chairs are the old plastic kind that are actually pretty comfortable. Looking out the window, you see the local life of Mumbai unfolding every single minute. It is not pretty like a postcard, but it is real.
