Our shop is over in Jogeshwari West, specifically shop number 9 and 10 in Urshila Apartment. We’ve been set up here for a bit now, right opposite the MLA bungalow. It’s a good spot because people know the landmark easily. We deal with property and real estate things. Mostly we help people find a place to rent or maybe buy if they are looking in this area. It gets quite noisy outside with the traffic on Survey No 30/12 but we are used to it by now. The office is simple. We have a few chairs and some files piled up. People walk in asking about flats or shop spaces nearby. We spend a lot of time on the phone calling owners or checking out sites. It isn’t glamorous work. Sometimes we spend the whole day showing people places and they don’t like any of them. That’s just how the estate business goes in Mumbai. You have to know the streets well. We try to keep track of what is available in the newer buildings and the older ones too. Being in Jogeshwari means we see a lot of families looking for more space. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening. If the lights are on, we are usually inside talking to someone. It’s a small operation, just us working through the listings and trying to make sure the paperwork is sorted out for everyone involved.
