You can find us in Andheri West, over at Alkapuri in Flat No 5 on the second floor. It’s a residential-style building, so it feels very much like a home environment when you walk in. We have been running our dance classes from this spot for a good amount of time. Since we are on the second floor, it’s a bit quieter than being right on the street level, which helps with the concentration. We teach various forms of dance, and the students usually come in after school or work. Andheri is always buzzing, but inside the flat, we just focus on the dance moves and the beat. We have some basic mats and mirrors set up to help everyone see what they are doing. It’s not a massive hall, but it’s enough for the small groups we take. We try to keep things organized with a schedule on the wall, though sometimes we chat a bit too much between sessions. People in the building are used to the music by now. We spend a lot of our time showing the basic footwork to beginners. It’s a simple setup, nothing like those big commercial studios you see in movies. We just like to keep the tradition of dance going in our own small way. If you are in the Alkapuri area, you’ve probably walked past our building many times. Someone is usually there in the afternoons to answer the door.
