Our shop is tucked away on 1St Khetwadi Back Rd. It’s Shop No. 10, and it’s one of those places where you really have to know where you’re going to find us. The back road is a bit different from the main lanes, maybe a little more cramped but just as busy with the trade. We deal in steel and we’ve been doing it from this same spot for quite a while. Most days are spent checking inventory and making sure we have enough stock for the regulars who come by. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of metal and the sound of trucks unloading nearby. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a suit. We’re usually in old clothes because you’re going to get grease on you sooner or later. We don’t have a website with fancy pictures or anything. If people want to see what we have, they just come down to the shop and look. We talk about the prices, the weight of the steel, and when the next delivery is coming in. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. When it gets hot in the afternoon, we turn the old fan on high and just keep going. We don’t do anything fancy here, just sell steel and try to keep the books straight at the end of every day. That’s our life on the back road.
