We are over here at 14/16, Krishna Bhavan, right in the middle of Sindhi Lane. Most folks know the spot because it’s so close to Alankar Cinema. Charni Road is always humming with people and noise, and our shop is no different. We deal with metal all day long. It's heavy, it’s often dirty, and the space gets pretty cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in from the suppliers. There isn’t much in the way of decoration in the office, just some old chairs and a few fans trying to move the air around during those hot Mumbai afternoons. We spend a lot of time checking measurements and making sure the pieces go where they’re supposed to. Our neighbors have been around for years too, so we usually see the same faces every morning when we open up the shutters. It’s a lot of manual work and sometimes we get behind on the paperwork, but that's just how a small metal business goes. The tea guy comes by around four, and that's usually the only break we take. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just us here on the ground floor, handling the inventory and dealing with whatever walk-ins come through the door looking for specific parts. It can be loud with the traffic outside, but we like being in this part of town.
