Jay Durga Steel Furniture is our small business based in Kandivali West. We are over at New Panchawati Niwas, specifically at number 5. We’ve been making and selling steel items for homes for a good while now. Most people come to us when they need a cupboard or a simple bed frame that will last a long time without rusting. Steel is good because it doesn’t break easily like some of the newer materials you see in big stores. Our shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things carefully to make space for people to walk. It’s a local neighborhood spot, so we know many of the families who live around here. They stop by to ask prices or just to see what new stock we have in the mornings. Sometimes we are busy with small repairs, and other days we are just waiting for a delivery to arrive from the workshop. We don't use any high-tech systems for our sales. We just write everything down in our books and keep the receipts. The street outside can get quite crowded in the evenings when everyone is out, but we like being part of the Kandivali community. It feels like home to us. We started this because we knew how to work with metal. It is practical work. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for customers. We try to be helpful when someone is looking for something specific for their house. It is just a regular life running a furniture shop.
