Jannock Steels

Our place, Jannock Steels, is tucked away at 27, Sindhi Lane, over in the Opera House area. If you’ve ever been around here, you know how tight the streets are and how much traffic there is. It’s always a bit of a struggle getting the trucks in and out with the steel loads, but we manage somehow. The building is older and doesn't look like much from the outside, but we have a lot of stock piled up in the back. We spend most of our time moving heavy pieces around and checking measurements. It’s a lot of physical labor and the air usually smells like cold metal and old grease. We have a small crew and we’ve all got our roles to play. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find anyone wearing a suit. Usually, we’re just in our work clothes with dirt on our hands. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for deliveries or look over the lists of what needs to go out next. Sometimes the phones won't stop ringing and other times it's quiet enough to hear the city outside. We just keep our heads down and handle the steel orders as they come through the door. It’s a bit messy and crowded in the office, but we know where everything is. We just focus on getting the steel where it needs to go and making sure the counts are right before the day ends.
