Jagdish Hegde

I've been working out of this space at 26 Fort, inside Maharashtra Bhavan, for a long time now. It’s number 12/14 if you are looking at the directory near the entrance. Being so close to Handloom House means there is always a lot of activity around here, which I personally enjoy. My name is Jagdish Hegde and this is where I spend the majority of my waking hours. It’s not a corporate headquarters or a fancy suite. It is just my office where I handle my business and meet with people who need my help. The walls are covered with files and I have a desk that has seen better days, but it works for me. People usually find me through word of mouth or because they were passing by Handloom House and saw the sign for Maharashtra Bhavan. I don't have a big team helping me out; it’s mostly just me taking care of the details. I think people appreciate that they get to talk directly to me instead of being passed around. The building itself has a lot of history and you can feel that when you walk through the corridors. I keep regular hours, but I’m often here late if a project needs finishing. I like the routine of coming in, opening the windows to get some air, and seeing what the day brings. It’s a practical way to live and I wouldn't have it any other way.
