J R Academy Of Modern Theatre

Up on the 6th floor of Wing B at S V Road, you will find J R Academy Of Modern Theatre. We are in Flat No 602. Being in Andheri West means there is always something going on outside. From our windows, we can see the traffic crawling along S V Road at all hours. It is actually a good spot for a theatre academy because there is so much energy in the neighborhood. The flat isn't huge, so we have to move the furniture around a lot whenever we are practicing a scene. There are usually scripts lying on the floor and some old costumes hanging on the back of the doors. It feels a bit messy, but that is just how theatre work goes. We don't have a big stage or professional lighting here. We just use the space we have. Sometimes the neighbors in Wing B complain if we get a bit too loud during a rehearsal, so we try to keep the shouting to a minimum. The elevator up to the 6th floor is pretty small, so people often arrive in shifts. We spend a lot of time just talking about plays and drinking tea. It is a simple place, really. Just a flat where we can focus on the work without any distractions from the outside world, besides the traffic noise. It works for what we do, and we like the vibe of the 6th floor.
