Our place is in the Govind Sagar Building, unit 15, over in Kalina. It’s a solid enough building, which is a good thing because we handle a lot of heavy steel items. J K Steels isn't a massive operation with hundreds of workers. It's just a few of us making sure that the orders get filled and people get what they paid for. The floor is usually covered in some dust or metal scraps because that's just the nature of working with steel every day. We’ve been in Kalina for some years now and seen it change. The neighborhood has gotten much busier but our little corner stays mostly the same as it was. Customers come by to pick things up or ask questions about what we have in our stock. It’s definitely not a quiet job to have. There’s a lot of clanging and moving heavy things around with the trolley. We don't have a fancy front office with a big desk or air conditioning. We just work right where the materials are kept. Most of the time we are busy with loading or unloading the trucks that come by. It’s hard work and it keeps us on our feet all day long. Govind Sagar is easy to find if you know this part of Kalina. We try to be as helpful as we can when someone asks for something specific. If we don’t have it, we just tell them straight.
