J K Metal is down in 2nd Kumbharwada Lane, right near the Goldeval Temple. It’s Shop Number 05 on the ground floor of Building 80. If you’ve ever walked through this lane, you know how narrow it is and how much metal is clanking around everywhere. We’ve got a lot of stuff crammed into this small space. It’s mostly sheets and rods, tucked into every corner we can find. It’s dark inside sometimes because the building is old, but we know where every piece is hidden. My father started this years ago, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. The temple bells are a constant sound in the background, which is actually quite nice during a hectic afternoon. Dealing with metal is heavy work. Our hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We don't have a big fancy computer system; we mostly use a notebook and a calculator that’s seen better days. Customers come in looking for specific sizes, and we do our best to find what they need in the stacks. It’s a tight squeeze in the shop, especially when we have a lot of stock delivered. We share tea with the guys from the shop next door when things quiet down. It’s a busy part of town, always people moving and noise from the street. We just stay focused on the metal and getting orders out to the people who wait for them.
