J K Metal Works

We have been running J K Metal Works for quite a long time now. Our small workshop is located at 215/A in the Bt Compound, which sits right on Shree Ram Marg in Malad West. If you are familiar with the area, we are along the 5th Main Road. Most days are spent cutting metal, welding pieces together, and fixing various things that people bring into the shop. It gets very noisy with all the grinders and machines running, but that is just part of the job. There is usually a layer of dust on everything and scrap metal piled up in the corners. We do not have a fancy office or any polished displays. It is a working space where things actually get made. Sometimes a neighbor will drop by to ask if we can repair a broken gate or make a small frame, and we just tell them honestly if it is something we can do. My clothes are almost always stained with grease or iron filings by the time I head home. It is hard work, especially when it gets really hot under the tin roof in the summer, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. The compound is often crowded with trucks and other workers, so things can feel a bit chaotic. We try to keep our tools organized but they usually end up scattered by the afternoon. If you walk down the 5th Main Road, you will probably hear us before you see us.
