Indian Steel Fabricators

Down in Govandi East, specifically on 2nd Main at number 43, you’ll find our workshop, Indian Steel Fabricators. It is a noisy, hot place, but it is where we do all our work. We deal with a lot of heavy metal, cutting pipes and welding frames together. Most days, the air is filled with sparks and the smell of burnt iron. We don’t have an office staff or anyone to answer phones; usually, you just hear the sound of the grinders running. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and my hands are always covered in grease or soot. We make a lot of basic things like window safety grills, rolling shutters for shops, and simple gates for houses around the neighborhood. People just walk in with a rough drawing or some measurements, and we figure it out from there. It is not a high-tech factory. We use old machines that we’ve had for years, but they still work perfectly fine for what we need. The space is a bit cramped because we have stacks of raw steel rods and plates everywhere. It gets really warm in the afternoons, especially when we have the welding torches going. We just try to get the orders finished on time so we can move on to the next one. It is hard physical labor, but there is something good about seeing a finished gate at the end of the day. We aren't big, just a local shop doing what we can.
