We operate out of Office No. 4 in Dinesh Bhavan, which is right on C.P. Tank Road at number 64. It’s a busy area and the building is always full of people moving around at all hours. Inco Steel is what we call ourselves, but mostly we’re just a small group of people handling a lot of heavy metal orders. The office isn’t very big, so we have to be really careful where we stack the files and the metal samples. C.P. Tank Road is always jammed with trucks and hand-pulled carts, making it a bit of a challenge to get things moved, but we manage somehow. We spend our hours on the phone or working through spreadsheets, tracking where the steel is going and when it is supposed to arrive. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of Dinesh Bhavan directly. We usually have the old ceiling fan going full blast to keep the air moving. It’s not a glamorous setup at all, just a desk, a couple of mismatched chairs, and the constant sound of the street outside. We know the other folks in the building well enough by now. Sometimes the tea man comes by with a tray and that’s when we actually take a short break. Our work is mostly about making sure the right grades of steel get to the right people without too much fuss or delay. It’s practical work and doesn't leave much room for anything else.
