Hmt Machine Tools is located right on the main road at 78 Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg. Being in the World Trade Centre building makes it easier for people to locate us, though the traffic out front can be a real headache sometimes. We have been working out of this spot for a while now. The office isn't very big, but it fits everything we need for the day-to-day machine tool business. You can usually hear the noise of the city coming through the windows even when they are shut. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or talking to people who drop by looking for parts. The street outside is always moving, people going to work or heading towards the docks nearby. It’s a fast-paced area but inside here we just focus on getting the orders right. Sometimes the lifts in the building take a long time, so we just take the stairs if we are in a rush. We handle different kinds of tools and equipment that people need for their workshops. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. Most of our regulars know the shortcut through the side entrance to avoid the crowd on the main road. We keep the paperwork on the desks and the coffee pot going most of the morning. It’s a practical place to work and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the city around us.
