Our office is at 13-B, Bakhtawar, right at 229 Nariman Point. It’s one of those classic South Mumbai addresses where space is at a premium and everyone is always in a hurry. Being in the Bakhtawar building means Hermes Steel Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is right in the middle of all that old-school business energy. The lobby has that specific smell of old stone and air conditioning that’s been running for decades. Inside our unit, 13-B, things are pretty straightforward. We have the usual desks, some heavy filing cabinets for our records, and a window that looks out onto the street. You can see the sea if you lean out a certain way, but mostly we are looking at the computer screens or talking to people on the phone. Nariman Point has changed a lot, but this building feels solid. We don’t have any fancy decor or modern art on the walls. It’s just a place for work. Most of the day is spent tracking shipments or dealing with numbers. It can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of stuff coming in, but we manage with the space we have. The lift can be slow in the mornings when everyone is arriving at once, so we’ve learned to be patient with it. We like being here because it’s central, even if the commute through Mumbai traffic is a pain every single morning. It’s just home for the business and has been for a while.
