Hamidsons Hardware

Our place is in the Peerbhoy Building at Pathakwadi, just off Lohar Chawl. It is an old part of the city, and the building has a lot of character, even if the stairs are a bit steep and narrow. We have been here for a long time, and the post box number 2372 has seen a lot of mail over the years. This area is the heart of the hardware trade in Mumbai, so it is always packed with people and handcarts moving goods through the narrow lanes. Inside our space, it is a bit of a maze of shelves filled with all sorts of hardware items. It smells like metal and old paper in here. We spend our days answering the phone and checking the stock for customers who have been coming to us for decades. It gets very hot in the summer because the old buildings don't catch much of a breeze, so we have old ceiling fans that creak as they spin. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we often share a tea or help each other out when someone is looking for a part that is hard to find. It is a bit chaotic and loud with the street noise coming up from below, but we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office. It is just how life is in Pathakwadi. We keep going day by day.
