Gulab Tea

Gulab Tea sits right opposite the Dongri Market on Road No. 2, Nauroji Hill. If you’ve ever been to Dongri, you know how packed the streets get, especially in the mornings. Our shop is small and opens right onto the sidewalk. We keep the tea in big glass jars and some stainless steel containers. Most of the day is spent chatting with neighbors who stop by for their daily supply. It’s a noisy spot with all the shouting from the market across the way and the cars honking. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time, and the walls are covered in old calendars and shelves that sag a little. I do all the weighing and packing myself while my nephew helps with the heavy lifting. We don’t use fancy machines, just an old balance scale that still works perfectly. The floor is tile and it’s seen better days, but it’s easy to sweep. Sometimes when it’s hot, we sit out front on wooden stools just to catch a breeze. It’s a very local business where everyone knows each other’s business. We don't have any big plans to expand; we just like serving the people right here in the neighborhood. It’s just tea and talk, every single day.
