Green Channel

Green Channel operates out of a spot right opposite the Saki Vihar Telephone Exchange in Andheri East. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy Saki Vihar is. The noise of the buses and the rickshaws is constant, and there is always a crowd of people on the sidewalk. Our office, Green Channel Travel Services, is a small space where we manage all the bookings and travel plans. It’s not a quiet place. The phones are usually ringing and there’s always someone coming in to ask about a ticket or a bus schedule. We have a couple of old desks and some chairs for customers to sit on while they wait. The walls are covered with some travel posters that have started to fade a bit. Because we are right across from the Telephone Exchange, it’s a good landmark for people trying to find us. The traffic in Andheri East is legendary, so we spend a lot of time telling people to leave early if they want to catch their ride. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s just a few of us making sure people get where they need to go. We keep a big bottle of water on the counter for anyone who comes in from the heat. It’s a bit of a squeeze when it gets busy, but we manage to get the work done. The office smells a bit like the street outside, and the old ceiling fan clicks.
