Gorabari High School

Our school is located in Gorabari, which is part of the Khatra area in Bankura, West Bengal. It is a place where many children from the surrounding villages come to get their education. The building is quite old and we have had to fix it up many times over the years. We have classrooms for the different grades, and a small playground where the students spend their breaks. It is not a fancy private school with air conditioning or anything like that. We have the basic things like desks, blackboards, and books. The teachers here have been working with the local community for a long time. We see the kids grow up from young students into teenagers who are ready to take their exams. Sometimes it gets very hot in the summer, and the fans are always running. In the monsoon, the rain can be quite loud on the roof. We focus on the regular subjects that the state board requires. There is a lot of noise during the lunch hour when everyone is outside. We try to keep things organized, but with so many students, it can be a bit chaotic at times. Most of our students walk or cycle a long way to get here every morning. We are just a local high school trying to give the kids in this part of Bankura a fair chance at learning what they need for their future. It’s a simple life here at the school.
