About Global Steel & Engineering – Metals & Minerals in Mumbai
Over at Kennedy Bridge 163, that’s where Global Steel & Engineering is located. It’s right near the main flow of traffic, so there is never a quiet moment. We deal with a lot of steel sections and engineering parts. The workshop is a bit of a cave, honestly. It’s dark and filled with the sound of grinding metal. We have a small crew, and everyone knows their job. We don’t use a lot of high-tech stuff. It’s mostly manual work and old-school engineering. The floor is stained with oil that’s probably been there for twenty years. We don't bother cleaning it too much because it just gets dirty again the next day. I spend a lot of time checking the measurements on pieces we’ve cut. If it’s off by a little, it’s no good. The bridge outside always has cars stuck on it, and sometimes I just stand in the doorway and watch them crawl by while I have my tea. It’s a gritty kind of place. We don’t have a fancy sign or a lobby. You just walk in and someone will eventually look up from what they are doing. We do a lot of custom work that other places won't touch. It’s heavy, dirty work, and we go home tired every day. That’s just the way we like to run things here.
