Gayatri Grill Works

You can find us at number 39 on Bhandarkar Road in Dahisar. We spend our days working with iron and steel, mostly making grills for windows and balconies. The shop is always full of long iron bars that we have to cut and bend into shapes. It’s a lot of fire and heat because of the welding. We don’t have a lot of space, so most of the finished grills are stacked against the front wall. You can hear the sound of the hammers hitting the metal from a block away. We use chalk to mark the measurements on the floor or on the metal itself. It’s a very manual process. We don’t use robots or fancy tech; it’s just us and our welding masks. Dahisar is a busy place, and we get a lot of local residents coming in to ask for safety gates. We usually have to go out to their homes to take the measurements ourselves. The workshop is dusty and full of scraps, and we are always looking for the tape measure that someone put down. It’s hard on the back, especially when we have to lift the heavy gates for painting. We just do the work as it comes and try to keep up with the orders. It’s a simple life of bending iron and making sure things are sturdy.
