Gautam Steel

Gautam Steel is located in the Tulsi Building, specifically at Shop No. 6. The address is 178 Khetwadi Back Road. This part of the city is very narrow and crowded, which makes things interesting when we have to move steel around. The Tulsi Building is an older structure, and our shop is tucked into the ground floor. It’s a small space, so we have to be very organized with how we stack the steel. There is always a lot of activity on Khetwadi Back Road, with handcarts and motorcycles zooming past the shop front. Sometimes it’s a struggle just to get a delivery truck close enough to unload. We spend a lot of time on our feet, dealing with customers who walk in or handling phone calls. The walls of the shop are lined with different types of metal, and there isn't much room for anything else. We don’t have air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that struggle against the Mumbai heat. It’s an honest, busy environment where we just get on with the job of selling steel. Most people who know the area find us easily enough by looking for the Tulsi Building sign. We don't use any fancy sales tactics or have a big corporate team. It’s just a local shop where we work hard and go home at the end of the day. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that is usually our only break.
