Gaurav Metal is right in the thick of it near the Opera House in Mumbai. We are on Veer Savarkar Marg, which some of the older folks still call Cadell Road. It’s a very crowded area, and 124/138/2 is our little spot in the middle of it all. The streets are always packed with people and traffic is a nightmare most afternoons. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of metal and old ledgers kept in cupboards. We’ve been here for years, and the building shows its age. It has that old Mumbai character that you don't find in the new malls. We don't have air conditioning in every corner, so it gets quite warm during the monsoon humidity. We mostly deal with local folks and regulars who have been coming to us forever. There’s no marketing team here or anyone to write fancy emails. It’s just us answering the phone and writing down orders by hand in our books. You learn to work fast in this city because everyone is in a hurry. Every inch of space counts in this shop. We try to keep things organized, but it’s a constant battle with all the inventory coming in. It’s a real, lived-in place. We know the postman and the tea guy who comes around twice a day. We aren't trying to be something we aren't. We just trade metal and try to be fair about the prices and the weights.
