The garage at Vile Parle 132 has been our home for quite a few years now. Most mornings start with the sound of a shutter rolling up and the smell of old engine oil that never really leaves your skin. Ganesh Auto Works isn't a fancy place with a waiting lounge or free coffee. We just have some stools and a lot of tools scattered around the floor. Most of the time, I am under a car or leaning over an engine block trying to figure out why a noise won't go away. The traffic outside on the main road is always loud, but we’re used to it. People from around the neighborhood drop by, sometimes just to ask a quick question about their brakes or to see if we have a spare part lying around. My hands are usually black with grease by noon. It's dusty here, and the fans mostly just move the hot air around, but the work gets done. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner covered in receipts and old tea cups. Usually, there are three of us working, and we mostly talk about what needs fixing next or what we're eating for lunch. It’s a busy life, and there’s always a line of vehicles waiting out front. We keep things simple because that is the only way to manage all the repairs that come in every single day.
